EAR.th
EAR.th was released in 2023 to celebrate Earth Day. Born of research into the Earth’s song lines, time spent with Indigenous Elders and Wisdom Keepers as well as in direct communion with nature, the album is a love letter to our Earth. Written in response to climate change, the songs call for us to open our ears and listen to the messages of our planet at a time when greater care and sustainability are needed.
The so-called ‘Schumann Frequency’ (the 'sound' of the earth) runs subliminally throughout the album and recordings of our planet as heard from space - gathered by NASA - have been used to the album’s unique sound world. Recorded at her London studio with engineer Ewan Vickery, Sasha offers us the opportunity to immerse ourselves in (‘come home to’) the earth’s frequencies and harmonise with our planet for greater wellbeing.
“I’ve been inspired by the work of Letters to the Earth and Music Declares Emergency and hope the songs will get listeners to sing and dance along with the Earth's heartbeat and also inspire audiences to take greater personal responsibility in caring for our planet.”
Philosophers, scientists and mystics have investigated the power of frequency and sound over thousands of years. In writing this album, Sasha was particularly inspired by the work of Pythagoras’ music of the spheres which explored the relationship between harmonic proportions in music and the physical harmonies in planetary motion which suggested that at the moment of creation all planets sang together in ‘perfect concord’.
Sasha advocates the spiritual power of sound to heal and harmonise individuals, communities and even our planet. At the core of her practise is a devotion to the ideal of World Peace (or the Kabbalistic notion of Tikkun Olam) - in which she believes Song can play a key role in creating.
During the creation of the album, Sasha worked with Anneloes Smitsman, the EarthWise Centre, and a collective of Indigenous elders to create The EARTH Song which invites all people to contribute their voice and sing for our planet.
Printed on 12" eco-mix vinyl using offcuts of recycled vinyl and nestled within an inner sleeve printed on recycled glossy card - each copy is unique. The carbon emissions related to the recording have been offset and 10% of all profits from the album go to planting trees.
Sasha is grateful to have received help from Help Musicians for the EAR.th album tour which took place at outdoor venues in the UK. The audience were asked to leave all electronics outside the venue and were invited to connect to nature in soulful ways.

“Different is right. Unique might be even better. And this is just the tip of a very large iceberg that is Sasha Siem, a phenomenon that’s exactly right for our times.”Clash Magazine
